đen tuyền
Vietnamese
Etymology
đen (“black”) + tuyền (全) (“entire, total”); the second element is the expected Sino-Vietnamese reflex of Sinitic 全 (quán), fossilized in this compound. In other, more transparent compounds, tuyền had been replaced by the form toàn spread from Northern Vietnam.
