Etymology
From the verb ýyldyramak (“to sparkle, shine”), ultimately from Proto-Turkic *yaltïr- (“to flash; blazed”). Cognate with Azerbaijani ildırım (“lightning, thunder”), Turkish yıldırım (“thunderbolt, lightning”), etc.
