From Ottoman Turkish اوزری,[1] from Proto-Turkic *hüŕ, *hüz-, *ȫŕ, *ǖŕ (move up, on top, high above, upper part, surface). Compare Old Turkic 𐰇𐰕𐰀 (üze, above, over).
