Inherited from Ottoman Turkish چیقین (çıḳın, “a square cloth or handkerchief made into a round bundle”),[1] from Proto-Turkic *čïgïn (“parcel, pack”), from *čïg- (“to tie up a parcel, to sew with small stitches”) + *-ïn.[2][3]
