Telnet is a command-line tool that provides access to a command-line interface on a remote host. It may also be used to test Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connectivity. These activities will show you how to install the Telnet client on Windows.

Preparation

To prepare for this activity:

  1. Start Windows.
  2. Log in if necessary.

Activity 1 - Install Telnet Client

To install the Telnet client:

  1. Select Start.
  2. In the Run box, type Turn Windows features on or off and press Enter.
  3. Scroll down and select Telnet Client.
  4. Select OK to turn on the Telnet client.
