Much research over the past 2-3 years has challenged the recommendations for women with breast cancer related lymphoedema (BCRL) to rest and avoid physical activity. This resource has been created for use by exercise physiologists working with women who have breast cancer related lymphoedema. The aim is to provide information on the effects of exercise on BCRL and its ability to increase physical activity capabilities and quality of life. Exercise recommendations and prescription will also be discussed based on the current research on BCRL and guidelines for exercise prescription for cancer survivors. For more information on breast cancer itself click on wikipedia's breast cancer page.
