What is a personal learning platform?

• On a personal learning platform you can store things you made/learned at school like: papers, project reports, book reviews, etc.

Questions

• At what age should you introduce a personal learning platform? Age 7?
• Are schools already experimenting with this?
• Which platform should we choose?
  • WordPress:
    • Doesn't work that well on an iPad in 2015.
  • Google Sites:
    • Is Google Sites a good option?
    • It is not difficult to learn.
    • You can easily export your content if you want to use another platform.
    • Google Sites works on an iPad.
