And Jacob was greatly afraid and it distressed him, and he divided the people that were with him, and the sheep and the cattle and camels into two camps.

וַיִּירָ֧א יַעֲקֹ֛ב מְאֹ֖ד וַיֵּ֣צֶר ל֑וֹ וַיַּ֜חַץ אֶת־הָעָ֣ם אֲשֶׁר־אִתּ֗וֹ וְאֶת־הַצֹּ֧אן וְאֶת־הַבָּקָ֛ר וְהַגְּמַלִּ֖ים לִשְׁנֵ֥י מַחֲנֽוֹת׃

Rashi

afraid and distressed

וַיִּירָ֧א וַיֵּ֣צֶר

And he was afraid that he might be killed, and it distressed him that he might kill others:

ויירא שמא יהרג, ויצר לו אם יהרוג הוא את אחרים:
