FULLER, Henry Blake (1857—). An American novelist and story-writer, born in Chicago. His first story, The Chevalier of Pensieri-Vani, was published anonymously, won favor in the eyes of Professors Norton and Lowell, and, on its republication (1892), became popular. In the same year appeared The Chatelaine of La Trinité. Both were remotely romantic. The Cliff Dwellers (1893) was an essay in relentless realism. This picture of Chicago life was followed by another, With the Procession (1895), kindlier in touch, with humor playing over its seriousness, and Sicilian Romance (1900). He has also written twelve one-act plays collected in The Puppet Booth.
