JOHN FENNELL, Esq.
[Commander.]

Obtained his first commission in Oct. 1794; and was taken prisoner while serving as senior lieutenant of la Minerve frigate. Captain (now Sir Jahleel) Brenton, July 2d, 1803[1]. He continued in France during the remainder of the war, a period of nearly eleven years; and was promoted to his present rank on the 15th June, 1814.
