| In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful. | Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi | |
| 053:001 | As the star collapsed. | Waalnnajmi itha hawa |
| 053:002 | Your friend was not astray, nor was he deceived. | Ma dalla sahibukum wama ghawa |
| 053:003 | Nor does he speak from personal desire. | Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa |
| 053:004 | It is a divine inspiration. | In huwa illa wahyun yooha |
| 053:005 | He has been taught by One mighty in power. | AAallamahu shadeedu alquwa |
| 053:006 | Free from any defect, he became stable. | Thoo mirratin faistawa |
| 053:007 | While he was at the highest horizon. | Wahuwa bial-ofuqi al-aAAla |
| 053:008 | Then he drew nearer by moving down. | Thumma dana fatadalla |
| 053:009 | Until he became as near as two bow-lengths or nearer. | Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna |
| 053:010 | He then conveyed the inspiration to His servant what was to be revealed. | Faawha ila AAabdihi ma awha |
| 053:011 | The heart did not invent what it saw. | Ma kathaba alfu-adu ma raa |
| 053:012 | Do you doubt him in what he saw? | Afatumaroonahu AAala ma yara |
| 053:013 | And indeed, he saw him in another descent. | Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra |
| 053:014 | At the ultimate point. | AAinda sidrati almuntaha |
| 053:015 | Near it is the eternal Paradise. | AAindaha jannatu alma/wa |
| 053:016 | The whole place was overwhelmed. | Ith yaghsha alssidrata ma yaghsha |
| 053:017 | The eyes did not waver, nor go blind. | Ma zagha albasaru wama tagha |
| 053:018 | He has seen from the great signs of his Lord. | Laqad raa min ayati rabbihi alkubra |
| 053:019 | Have you considered Allaat and Al-`Uzzah? | Afaraaytumu allata waalAAuzza |
| 053:020 | And Manaat, the third one? | Wamanata alththalithata al-okhra |
| 053:021 | Do you have the males, while He has the females? | Alakumu alththakaru walahu al-ontha |
| 053:022 | What a strange distribution! | Tilka ithan qismatun deeza |
| 053:023 | These are but names that you made up, you and your forefathers. God never authorized such. They only follow conjecture, and personal desire, while the guidance has come to them from their Lord. | In hiya illa asmaon sammaytumooha antum waabaokum ma anzala Allahu biha min sultanin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wama tahwa al-anfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda |
| 053:024 | Or shall the human being have what he wishes? | Am lil-insani ma tamanna |
| 053:025 | To God belongs the Hereafter, and the world. | Falillahi al-akhiratu waal-oola |
26-32
| 053:026 | And there are many Angels in heaven, who have no power to intercede, except after God gives permission for whom He wishes and is satisfied with him. | Wakam min malakin fee alssamawati la tughnee shafaAAatuhum shay-an illa min baAAdi an ya/thana Allahu liman yashao wayarda |
| 053:027 | Those who disbelieve in the Hereafter have given the Angels feminine names. | Inna allatheena la yu/minoona bial-akhirati layusammoona almala-ikata tasmiyata al-ontha |
| 053:028 | While they had no knowledge about this; they only followed conjecture. And conjecture is no substitute for the truth. | Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wa-inna alththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqi shay-an |
| 053:029 | So disregard he who turns away from Our reminder, and only desires this worldly life. | FaaAArid AAan man tawalla AAan thikrina walam yurid illa alhayata alddunya |
| 053:030 | This is the extent of their knowledge. Your Lord is fully aware of those who strayed away from His path, and He is fully aware of those who are guided. | Thalika mablaghuhum mina alAAilmi inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihi wahuwa aAAlamu bimani ihtada |
| 053:031 | And to God belongs everything in the heavens and everything on Earth. He will requite those who commit evil for their works, and will reward the righteous for their righteousness. | Walillahi ma fee alssamawati wama fee al-ardi liyajziya allatheena asaoo bima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoo bialhusna |
| 053:032 | They avoid major sins and lewdness, except for minor offences. Your Lord is with vast forgiveness. He has been fully aware of you since He initiated you from the Earth, and while you were embryos in your mothers' wombs. Therefore, do not acclaim yourselves; He is fully aware of the righteous. | Allatheena yajtaniboona kaba-ira al-ithmi waalfawahisha illa allamama inna rabbaka wasiAAu almaghfirati huwa aAAlamu bikum ith anshaakum mina al-ardi wa-ith antum ajinnatun fee butooni ommahatikum fala tuzakkoo anfusakum huwa aAAlamu bimani ittaqa |
33-62
| 053:033 | Have you noted the one who turned away? | Afaraayta allathee tawalla |
| 053:034 | And he gave very little, then he stopped. | WaaAAta qaleelan waakda |
| 053:035 | Did he possess knowledge of the future? Could he see it? | aAAindahu AAilmu alghaybi fahuwa yara |
| 053:036 | Or was he not informed of the teachings in the Scriptures of Moses? | Am lam yunabba/ bima fee suhufi moosa |
| 053:037 | And of Abraham who fulfilled? | Wa-ibraheema allathee waffa |
| 053:038 | None can carry the burdens of another. | Alla taziru waziratun wizra okhra |
| 053:039 | And the human being will have what he sought. | Waan laysa lil-insani illa ma saAAa |
| 053:040 | And his works will be shown. | Waanna saAAyahu sawfa yura |
| 053:041 | Then he will be paid fully for such works. | Thumma yujzahu aljazaa al-awfa |
| 053:042 | And to your Lord is the final destiny. | Waanna ila rabbika almuntaha |
| 053:043 | And He is the One who makes laughter and tears. | Waannahu huwa adhaka waabka |
| 053:044 | And He is the One who takes life and gives it. | Waannahu huwa amata waahya |
| 053:045 | And He is the One who created the pair, male and female. | Waannahu khalaqa alzzawjayni alththakara waal-ontha |
| 053:046 | From a seed that is put forth. | Min nutfatin itha tumna |
| 053:047 | And He will effect the recreation. | Waanna AAalayhi alnnash-ata al-okhra |
| 053:048 | And He is the One who makes you rich or poor. | Waannahu huwa aghna waaqna |
| 053:049 | And He is the Lord of Sirius. | Waannahu huwa rabbu alshshiAAra |
| 053:050 | And He is the One who destroyed `Aad the first. | Waannahu ahlaka AAadan al-oola |
| 053:051 | And of Thamud He left nothing. | Wathamooda fama abqa |
| 053:052 | And the people of Noah before that; they were evil transgressors. | Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoo hum athlama waatgha |
| 053:053 | And the evil communities were the lowliest. | Waalmu/tafikata ahwa |
| 053:054 | Consequently, they utterly vanished. | Faghashshaha ma ghashsha |
| 053:055 | So which of your Lord's marvels can you deny? | Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbika tatamara |
| 053:056 | This is a warning like the older ones. | Hatha natheerun mina alnnuthuri al-oola |
| 053:057 | The final judgement draws near. | Azifati al-azifatu |
| 053:058 | None beside God can relieve it. | Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifatun |
| 053:059 | Are you surprised by this narration? | Afamin hatha alhadeethi taAAjaboona |
| 053:060 | And you are laughing, instead of crying? | Watadhakoona wala tabkoona |
| 053:061 | And you are insisting on your ways? | Waantum samidoona |
| 053:062 | You shall prostrate to God, and serve. | Faosjudoo lillahi waoAAbudoo |
