The estimated population for the registration area in 1910 was 53,843,896, or over one half (583 percent.) of the total estimated population of Continental United States ; and the number of deaths returned for that year was 805,412, or 15.0 per 1,000 of population.
In 1909, 853,290 marriages and 72,062 divorces were recorded in the United States. Marriage and divorce rates, computed on the basis of the 1900 population and the annual averages of marriage and divorce from 1898 to 1902, Avere as follows :
