Sarcophagus under the Dome of the Tomb represented in No. 5.

This sarcophagus is composed of the polished black trap alluded to in our general description of the Tombs. The wreath hanging down the upper steps is composed of flowers, and has been deposited on the Sarcophagus by some religious devotee, it being the custom of those people to cast wreaths on the tombs, as immortelles are laid on graves by Roman Catholics.
