Oregon's magnificent highway, extending for two hundred miles through the heart of the Cascade and Coast Ridge Mountains, was built by engineers who first spent months in Europe studying famous mountain roadways there. The roadway is nowhere less than twenty-four feet in width and has a grade not exceeding five percent at any point. It is built to last for ages and is considered one of the finest examples of roadmaking to be found in the country.
