Lyrics and Legends.

Silently I drew apart there.
Thus I left her. When she woke there
Presently, with keen, clear vision
Full and free,
I could see
At a glance her gay derision,
Ere her mocking laughter broke there,
Ere she cried to those who waited,—
The gay group of friends assembled,—
"Failed, you see!"
Then to me,—
While I, smiling there, dissembled,—
"Mesmerism's over-rated!"
