ful. The two other princesses were very pretty girls, but their beauty did by no means reach that of Peter Humbug's fair and graceful bride. It was thus decided that Peter should inherit the throne. He did so, in fact, shortly afterwards, when the old king had died, and his marriage with the princess had been celebrated with great splendor. Evidently he was a much better man than people expected him to be, for he ruled his land wisely and well. He was much beloved by his people. But the two older brothers went away to other countries, and no one ever knew what became of them.
