Lewis, Angelo John, M.A. Wadham Coll., Oxon, author of Manuals of Indian Penal Code and Indian Civil Procedure, Modern Magic and Drawing-room Amusements (under nom de plume of "Professor Hoffmann"), contributor to Temple Bar, Saturday Review, Belgravia, London Society, etc., a student of Lincoln's Inn 1 April, 1858 (then aged 19), called to the bar 26 Jan., 1861 (eldest son of John Lewis, of London, gent.); born 23 July, 1839; married 12 May, 1864, Mary Ann, eldest dau. of Joseph Avery, Esq., of London, and of Tintagel, Cornwall.
