Statement of The Chief Justice and Mr. Justice Rehnquist:
We concur in the judgment and join the opinion of Mr. Justice White, agreeing with its analysis that Georgia's system of capital punishment comports with [p. 227] the Court's holding in Furman v. Georgia, 408 U.S. 238 (1972).
