BROOKE, HENRY (1725?–1786)

Son of Rev. Henry Brooke, Rector of Kinawley and Kilina, Ireland: born about 1725: joined the E.I. Co'.s Civil Service, and rose to be a Member of the Madras Council: took, with George Stratton, a prominent part in the arrest and deposition of Lord Pigot, .the Governor of Madras, in 1776: and was one of the four sentenced on Feb. 10, 1780, in the King's Bench to pay a fine of £1,000 each for their action: died in Dublin, March 26, 1786.
