Shakespearean scholar and antiquarian. With the non-conformist preacher Rev. George Dawson he was a founder of The Shakespeare Club in the early 1860s. This club was set up to discuss William Shakespeare and soon led to the formation of a Shakespeare library in Birmingham Reference Library
