Michiel Adriaensz de Ruyter
(1607–1676)

Supreme Commander of the Dutch Navy, famed for raiding the Medway and capturing the one-time British flagship Royal Charles in 1667. He was an active participant in all of the first, second and third Anglo-Dutch Wars, and was fatally wounded in the last of these.
