Wayne Messam

Wayne Martin Messam (born June 7, 1974) is an American businessman and politician. He has been the mayor of Miramar, Florida since 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Messam was first elected to the Miramar City Commission in 2011 before beating Mayor Lori Cohen Moseley in the 2015 election. Messam is also a general contractor and owner of a construction firm.[1]

Messam has been seen as a possible candidate for President in the 2020 United States presidential election.[2][3] On March 13, 2019, he announced the formation of an exploratory committee for a potential run.[4] Messam announced his candidacy on March 28, 2019.[5] Messam dropped out from the race on November 20, 2019 following low polling numbers, money raised and lack of qualification to any of the debates.[6]
