Washington Benavides
Washington Benavides (March 3, 1930 – September 24, 2017) was a Uruguayan poet and musician. He was born in Tacuarembó, Uruguay. During the 1950s he collaborated on the review Asir. In 1955 he published his first book, Tata Vizcacha. enavides taught literature at the secondary level. He later joined the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Letters of the University of the Republic, Uruguay.

Benavides died of complications from pneumonia in Montevideo, Uruguay on September 24, 2017 at the age of 87.[1]
