Wallace Rice

Wallace deGroot Cecil Rice (November 10, 1859 – December 15, 1939) was an American author and vexillographer. He is known for designing the flag of Chicago in 1917. He also wrote for the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Herald American.

Rice was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to American parents. He was divorced from his wife. The couple had two children. Rice died of uremia on December 15, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. He was 80.[1]
