Thomas Schäfer

Thomas Schäfer (22 February 1966 – 28 March 2020) was a German politician. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He served as the Minister of Finance of Hesse between 2010 and 2020. He was born in Hemer and grew up in Biedenkopf.

On 28 March 2020, Schäfer was found dead at a railway line near Hochheim am Main. Police ruled his death a suicide. He was 54.[1]
