Thomas Carlyle

Thomas Carlyle (4 December 1795 - 5 February 1881) was a Scottish writer, essayist, historian and social reformer. He lived most of his later life in London, England, and is sometimes also called the 'Sage of Chelsea' after the neighbourhood where he lived there.
