Superclass (biology)

A superclass is a level in the Linnaean taxonomy for biology. Normally the classification of a phylum runs phylum > class > order etc. Sometimes steps are needed between the main terms. A superclass is composed of one or more classes, and ranks below a subphylum. The tetrapods, for example, are part of the subphylum of vertebrates.
