Pronunciation
Pronunciation is a way a word is usually spoken. It can be affected by many different factors:
- Geographical location or dialect
- Presence of speech defect
- Ethnic group
- Education level
- Social class
Mispronunciation is an actual mistake in speaking. It is not used for how a speaker of a dialect pronounces a word. Examples occur in many place names and personal names. For instance, Leicester Square is actually pronounced like "Lester Square".
