P. K. Subban

Pernell-Karl Sylvester Subban MSC[1] (/ˈsubæn/ SOO-ban; born May 13, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played a total of 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, and the New Jersey Devils. He has also played for Team Canada and won a gold medal with them at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

He currently does work as a broadcast analyst for the NHL on ESPN panel.[2]

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Subban played 4 years with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Subban was drafted with the 43rd overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Canadiens on February 12, 2010, in a 3–2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.[3] During the game, he assisted on a Glen Metropolit goal for his first point in the NHL.[4] On April 26, 2010, Subban played in his first NHL playoff game. He also recorded his first NHL playoff point when he assisted on a Michael Cammalleri goal.[5] He scored his first goal on April 30, 2010, in game one of Canadiens' second round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.[6]

On September 20, 2022, Subban announced that he was retiring from playing professional ice hockey[7]
