Nasrin Oryakhil

Nasrin Oryakhil (born 1964) is a gynecologist and obstetrician from Afghanistan. She received a 2014 International Women of Courage Award. [1][2]

Work

In 2004, Oryakhil became the Director of the Malalai Maternity Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan.[3] At that hospital, she started the first clinic for obstetric fistula repair in Afghanistan.[3] She is the president of the NGO Afghan Family Health Association, and a member of the Afghan Women's Network. [2][4]

Oryakhil is also part of a group to create a Medical Council in Afghanistan.[3][5] She supported the creation of the Afghan Midwives Association.[6]

Oryakhil is a member of the Afghan Women’s Network. She speaks to the Parliament and at professional medical conferences. She is part of a working group to start a Medical Council in Afghanistan. [2]

Awards

In 2014, Oryakhil received an International Women of Courage Award.[7][8][9]
