Mitchel Air Force Base
Mitchel Air Force Base also known as Mitchel Field was a United States Air Force base. It is located on Long Island, New York. The base was active since the American Revolution. It was used during World War I and II. After World War 2, the base became an Air Force Base. The base was no longer in service in 1961. It is now home to the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Nassau Coliseum, Mitchel Athletic Complex, Nassau Community College, Hofstra University, and Lockheed. The area is a National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
