Mekere Morauta

Sir Mekere Morauta, KCMG (12 June 1946 – 19 December 2020)[1] was a Papua New Guinean politician and economist. He was the 7th Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea from 1999 to 2002. Morauta was born in Kukipi, Territory of Papua. Morauta was a member of the People's Democratic Movement.

Morauta died on 19 December 2020 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He was 74.[2]
