Martha Speaks

Martha Speaks is a educational children's television show. It first aired on September 1, 2008 and ended on November 18, 2014. The main character of the show is Martha who is a young dog that speaks.[2] The television show is based off of the 1992's children's book Martha Speaks.[3]

On June 10, 2013, the creator of Martha Speaks sued WGBH for getting not a lot of money.[4]

On November 18, 2014, the show aired its final episode before it got cancelled.[5]

Characters

  • Martha Lorraine (voiced by Tabitha St. Germain) is a talking yellow dog. After her owner Helen gives her a bowl of alphabet soup, she has the ability to speak.
  • Skits Lorraine (voiced by Brian Drummond) is another dog owned by Helen. He tried using the same alphabet soup, but did not gain the same talking ability. Although he was not able to speak, he is still a very smart and funny dog. Skits first appeared in the episode "Martha and Skits".
  • Helen (voiced by Madeleine Peters) is Martha and Skits' owner. She has three friends: T. D., Alice, and Truman.
