John Witherspoon (actor)
John "Pops" Witherspoon (born John Weatherspoon; January 27, 1942 – October 29, 2019) was an American actor and comedian. He had roles in several movies and television shows.[1] He was mostly known his role in Friday series[1] and as Granddad Robert Freeman in The Boondocks.

Witherspoon was born in Detroit, Michigan. He died at his home in Sherman Oaks, California on October 29, 2019 at the age of 77.[2] The cause of death was a heart attack.[3]
