January 2022 Burkina Faso coup d'état

On 23 January 2022, a gunshot was heard in front of presidential residence in the Burkinabé capital Ouagadougou. The soldiers was reported to have taken the control of military base in the capital. Although the government denied the ongoing coup in the country.[1] However, several hours later, President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré was said to have been arrested by the soldiers at military camp in the country.[2] The next day, Kaboré was removed from power.

It was reported that the internet in the country has stopped working.[3] On 24 January 2022, it was announced that Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba was the coup's leader and would become the country's head of state.[4]
