Ion Caramitru

Ion Horia Leonida Caramitru, OBE (Romanian pronunciation: [iˈon karaˈmitru]; 9 March 1942 – 5 September 2021) was a Romanian actor, stage director, and politician. He was Minister of Culture between 1996 and 2000. He was a member of the Romanian Democratic Convention.[1] He was born in Bucharest, Romania. An actor, he was known for his roles in Citizen X (1995), Adam and Paul (2004) and Charlie Countryman (2013).

Caramitru died on 5 September 2021 in Bucharest at the age of 79.[2]
