Intermezzo

An intermezzo is a short piece of music or a short performance that is played between two parts of a longer piece, such as an opera, or a theatre play. Sometimes, people would also do a dance performance. Intermezzi (or intermezzos) became popular in Italy, in the 16th century.

The oldest form are Madrigals.

Today, intermezzo is also used for something unexeted that looks funny
