It received positive reviews with Rotten Tomatoes giving the movie a 99% and Metacritic gave it a 75 out of 100. The movie was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score. A sequel, How to Train Your Dragon 2, was released on June 13, 2014. A third film, How to Train Your Dragon 3, was released on February 22, 2019.
