Fort George, Highland

Fort George is a large 18th-century fortress north-east of Inverness in Scotland, United Kingdom. It replaced a fort in Inverness which was blown up in 1746 by the Jacobites.[1] It was finished in 1769. It is built in a star shape and has its own harbour on the Moray Firth. It has never been attacked.

It is open to visitors with an exhibition showing the fort's use at different periods. It is still used as an army barracks.
