Dick Van Orden

Merton Dick Van Orden (February 24, 1921 – December 9, 2018) was an American rear admiral in the United States Navy. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy.[1] He was born in Austin, Texas.[2] He was Chief of Naval Research from 1973 to his retirement in 1975.

Van Orden died of prostate cancer in Arlington, Virginia on December 9, 2018, aged 97.[3]
