Combatant
A combatant is a person who fights in an armed conflict. Combatants in an interstate armed conflict are protected by parts of the Geneva Conventions as long as they obey the rules of war.[1] Those who fights with non-state armed groups in a non-interstate armed conflicts are not immune from prosecution for waging war against State forces.[2]
