Champ de Mars

Champ de Mars is a large public park in Paris, France. It is between the Eiffel tower to the northeast, and the Ecole Militaire to the south east. The name translates as Mars Field. It is named after Mars, the Roman god of war, and for the Campus Martius in Rome. The park was used as an exercising ground for the nearby military school. It is a rectangle about 780 metres (2,560 ft) by 220 metres (720 ft). Its area is about 24.3 hectares (60 acres).
