Bounty Islands

The Bounty Islands is a group of islands in the South Pacific Ocean. The islands are very small, the biggest one is just 1.3 square kilometres (0.50 sq mi) in size. They whole group is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) across. In total, there are 22 islands and islets. The islands are uninhabited. Politically, they are part of New Zealand. William Bligh discovered the islands in 1788, and named them after his ship, Bounty. The islands are about 690 kilometres (430 mi) southeast of Christchurch.
