Basutoland

Basutoland was a British colony that existed from 1884 to 1966 in present-day Lesotho.

Basutoland was completely surrounded by the Cape Colony from 1884–1910, the Union of South Africa from 1910–1961 and the Republic of South Africa from 1961–1966.

On 4 October 1966, Basutoland became independent as the Kingdom of Lesotho.
