Barrier methods

Barrier method can refer to different concepts:

When talking about birth control, a barrier method prevents sperm from reaching the egg cell using a physical barrier. The most common of these is a condom.
When talking about mathematical optimization, it is used for algorithms to approximate a value. This value is called a barrier.
