Area codes 217 and 447

Area codes 217 and 447 are area codes for Illinois. Area code 217 was one of the first area codes created in 1947. It covers the central portion of the state, consisting of towns such as its state capital, Springfield, Champaign, Urbana, Taylorville, and Danville. It was overlaid by 447 on March 27, 2021.[1][2]
