2020 Hpakant jade mine disaster
At least 162 people were killed in a landslide in a jade mining site in the Hpakant area of Kachin state in Myanmar on 2 July 2020.[1]

As of 2 July 2020, 162 bodies were recovered from the site, and another 54 people are reported injured.[2]
Myanmar's jade industry is known for many accidental deaths. The 2020 disaster is the deadliest accident to date. Disasters occurred at jade mines in Hpakant in 2015 and 2019.
