JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. (NYSE: JKS) is a solar module manufacturer headquartered in Shanghai, China, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2010. Its subsidiary Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. (SSE: 688223) was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's Science and Technology Innovation Board in 2022.

History

2006 - 2018

In December 2006, JinkoSolar was officially established in December 2006 in Shangrao, Jiangxi, China. In 2007, JinkoSolar began producing silicon ingots. In 2008, JinkoSolar began producing silicon wafers. In 2009, JinkoSolar began producing solar cells and operating a module assembly line.

In May 2010, JinkoSolar was listed on the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the company with the shortest time from establishment to public listing in the solar industry. In 2015, JinkoSolar established manufacturing operations in Malaysia.[2]

2019 - present

In 2019, officially opened the company's first U.S. factory. In 2020, the company became the first to achieve cumulative module shipments exceeding 70 GW.[3][4]

Jinko Solar provided the equipment for, and has a 20% ownership stake in, the 2 GW Al Dhafra Solar project in the United Arab Emirates, which was announced in 2020 and opened in 2023 and was one of the world's largest solar projects.[5][6]

In 2021, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection began blocking the import of JinkoSolar products into the United States due to concerns about the use of forced Uyghur labor.[7]

In 2022, the company established a 7 GW ingot/wafer factory in Vietnam. Also in 2022, JinkoSolar became the first PV company in the world with cumulative module shipments exceeding 100 GW.[8][9]

In May 2023, agents from the United States Department of Homeland Security and Federal Bureau of Investigation raided JinkoSolar's offices in Jacksonville, Florida.[10]

In May 2023, JinkoSolar announced plans to build the world's first “super integrated” solar factory, including silicon ingots, wafers, cells, and modules, with an annual integrated output of 56 GW.[11]

Recognition

JinkoSolar is a member of the Silicon Module Super League. The four other original members of the group are Canadian Solar, Hanwha Q CELLS, JA Solar, and Trina Solar.[12]
